 Fitting new kitchen cabinet handles
If you are looking for a way to change the appearance of your kitchen, a new set of kitchen door handles may be the solution. Kitchen door handles are a fundamental part of your kitchen design, and come in a variety of styles, shapes and colours. Door furniture must be both stylish and functional, and compliment the overall design of your kitchen door. Fitting kitchen door handles is quite a straightforward procedure. A typical kitchen will have about 20 kitchen door handles or door knobs, and the whole process should take no more than one hour. Here at Furnitec you will find a comprehensive range of and door furniture in traditional and contemporary designs to suit all tastes and budgets.
Once you have chosen your handles, follow our step-by-step guide to fitting them to your kitchen doors.
For knobs or handles with one screw:
1) Remove your old kitchen handles or knobs. Usually, a Phillips-head screwdriver is all that is required. 2) Push the new screws through the existing holes and into the back of the handle or knob. 3) Tighten the screws by hand at first, and then with a screwdriver. Do not overtighten.
For kitchen handles with two screw holes, make a template using a piece of card. This will ensure all your holes are drilled in the same place on the door.
1) Position your new handle against the door and mark the positions of the screw holes on the door. Make a note of these measurements and transfer them to your piece of card. 2) Test the template on a scrap piece of wood to check the handle is correctly positioned, then hold the template against the front face of the door. Use a bradawl or similar pointed object to push through the card and mark the hole points on the door. 3) Offer the handle up to these marks to make sure you are happy with the handle position, and then drill through the door using a 5mm drill bit. Position a scrap piece of wood at the back of the door whilst drilling - this will prevent splintering. 4) Now push the screws through the holes and onto the back of the handle. 5) Tighten the screws by hand at first, and then with a screwdriver. Do not overtighten.
